Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya, Karjat is established in 1964 and trying to emerge with quest for excellence. The college is an eminent co-education institute under the management of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara, one of the largest educational organizations in India having 676 branches. The college tries to imbibe the value of labour and education through self-help as well as to contribute the development of the typical economically backward rural area updating rural students with quality education and facilitate them with the modern stream of courses. The college aims to build up the character of students through value based education and to bring   about the overall progress of the students with the purposeful approaches and skills. We try to enhance the quality of education pertaining to national and social needs. Environmental and social awareness is created by exposing students to various activities. We seek to achieve the highest levels of distinction in the dissemination of the knowledge and understanding by providing students various courses at graduate, post graduate and professional levels also. We have introduced the professional courses such as B.C.A, B.Sc. (Computer Science), M A. (Geoinformatics), M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry), M.Sc.(Drug Chemistry), M.Com(Business Administration). The college has a well planned, beautifully developed and neatly maintained campus provides every facility to the students and atmosphere of study to built up his/ her career. Well qualified and experienced faculty members discharge the knowledge to their students whole-heartedly and devotedly.
             While pursuing the academic excellence we used to take every care of tailoring personality of individual students leading towards excellence career by paying personal attention to every individual and also by conducting soft-skill development programme. The College is running various activities for the overall development of the students including Literary Association, Science Association, Social Science Association, Planning and Developement Association, National Service Scheme, Earn and Learn Scheme, Career Oriented Courses, Competitive Examination  Guidance Centre with all facilities, Placement Cell, Counselling Cell etc. The college celebrates its Annual Prize Distribution Programme which provides a platform for the students to show their talents in many competitions such as debate, elocution, essay writing and sports. The pride of our college is NCC unit, one of best units in Maharashtra , gives maximum representation of  NCC cadets to national event of Republic Day  parade at New Delhi. Taking advantage of this, with the support of Karmveer Vidya-Prabodhini, (Academy) we are conducting pre-cadet training centre called Rayat Military Academy , a distinct programme to train the students to make entry to various disciplined services.
             The college is always putting efforts to seek transformation as per the need of the time by improving academic quality, communication skill and providing learning environment through ICT and other facilities like hostels, library, internet browsing centre and language laboratory

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Librarians’ main role is the management of information which is in the form of print and non print media. In recent time information in non print form is named as content or digital content. Management of these contents is equally important as compare to print contents. Content Management (CM) is the process of sharing contents important to an organization. How one can manage contents, index and share with others? What kind of security one needs to take care? Can librarians manage the organizational contents? Learn about CM from experts during the PULISAA’s workshop on "

Content Management using Google Sites”.

The basic aim of this workshop is to provide an opportunity to librarians to learn how Google site free tool can be used for the management of contents in an organization. It also focuses on the introduction of other content management software like Drupal, Joomla and Plone. The extensive practical knowledge will help you to create Google Site for management of contents and to provide information services to users. Hands on sessions on Google Sites for content management are a striking feature of this workshop.
The workshop is open to all.

About the author

Dr. Rajendra Kumbhar is Associate Professor at the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Pune, India. Dr. Kumbhar has been teaching classification, knowledge organization, vocabulary control and other related topics for more than 20 years. As a part of his doctoral research he compiled a comprehensive classification schedule and thesaurus of LIS and has published books and articles on this topic.
